Walden Pond
At least an hour later, we made another road-trip stop, this time at Walden Pond just outside of Concorde, MA. You know, Walden Pond, as in "Walden" by Henry David Thoreau (J didn't know)?!? I packed my wetsuit along on this trip because I need to try to get as much open water experience as possible. I had heard good things about triathletes training and swimming here and it did not disappoint. It was probably the loveliest water I've even been in (of course, that's like best of 4 right now, but still). You can see crystal clear all the way to the bottom and the water is a gorgeous color of aqua blue - and there's no disgusting fish poop/scales floating around in it!! I stayed pretty close to shore since my mom was watching (this was the first time she's ever seen me really swim) and it was my first time alone in open water. I swam for 35 minutes straight practicing swimming from one marker to another. In that time, there must have been 15 other triathletes show up in wetsuits and jump in to swim across the lake. My mom took some more pictures of me on her camera and as soon as I get them I will post them here. Just at the end of my swim, it started to rain again...
