Cow Surgery IV

DSC_2219_webThe end, it's over. The vet is collecting her things - her black medical case and a bucket. You can see the zippered-up incision on the cow's side. It was a really beautiful job of sewing.

I've seen quite a few photos of DA surgeries (like this one) in farm magazines. I can honestly say that these are some of the best. There is just something more appealing about these photos - I think the dark shadows with the bright light flares from the light bulbs lend a little urgency to the image.

A week post surgery and she's doing quite well, especially for a right sided displacement. She's pregnant and the calf is fine, so in a few months she'll be having another calf. yeah!

I was really impressed at how neat and tidy the whole thing looked when it was over. And yes, there is a great raw quality to the shots that represents the material (cow being operated on in a barn) very well.
