More Marathon
I went to watch/cheer/photograph the More Marathon in Manhattan today. It's a marathon just for women over 40 - and younger women can run the half marathon if they have an over-40 partner.

I like this picture because it looks like I am flicking J off, but really, I am just saying "Ok, that's enough, give me the camera back Dude!"
When I look at these pictures of myself, I think I look so young and baby faced. I have no wrinkles!
Here's me in Caffe Dante. I am wearing my all-time favorite sweater. I got this sweater somewhere around 1995 because I remember wearing it in my senior year in high school. Sadly, I have no idea (or memory) of what ever happened to it. I believe this is the last time anyone saw it alive...
We went into the city to our favorite place, Caffe Dante in the village. I can clearly remember this afternoon in the cafe! We got coffee and took turns taking pictures of each other. My pictures of J are so terrible because, apparently, I hadn't yet learned about backlighting.
The very next day, apparently we were having one of those crazy NY Marches, we went out to Prospect Park for a walk and more testing out the new camera.
I remember that I tried using the new digital camera inside and there wasn't enough light so I made J go out in the back garden and pose for me. I also remember that I thought my camera was crap and I was sadly disappointed with it! Seriously though, I can't believe the hair!!!
These photographs, I believe, are the first ones that I took with my first big digital camera - my workhorse Nikon D-70 that I just sent into semi-retirement in March of 2008. Here we see J in our second Brooklyn apartment (the one we loved). Things we still own that you can see in this picture: the paper towel holder, the spice rack (you never realize how long you keep certain things, do you?!), my big beloved chair that I am currently trying to sell on craigslist, and the big spoon hanging on the wall (much to my dismay).
Stefan, in his sketch comedy group Elephant Larry. I had a brand new digital camera, my D70, and Stefan asked me to come and photograph their dress rehearsal. I was terrified! It was the first time I had ever been officially asked to shoot anything for anyone. Overall, I did a pretty terrible job and delivered about 300 unusable photos because I had no idea what I was doing. At the time, it killed my confidence but now I know it's because it's not what I am interested in shooting and not something I would ever care to do. Just because you're a photographer doesn't mean you photograph everything equally awesome. I would still pretty much suck in the same situation today which is why I only shoot what I want to now.
