Larry
Here's Larry looking young and hip with his crazy haircuts.
Here's our good friend the farmer on Absenthe night. I have no idea what he was telling the photographer (me?) but there is an entire series of these photos where he is lecturing to the camera. At this moment in time, B wasn't yet going to be a dad and that's kind of hard to remember what he was like before his daughter came along.
Here I am on Absenthe Night. I am so young! My hair is so long (but up in a clip). In the background you can see the front door to the apartment and the couch that I grew to hate more than any peice of furniture has ever been hated.
Here's J on Absenthe night. I can't get over the long hair! Things in this picture that we still own: the Brita pitcher (wow has that thing paid for itself), the T-shirt J is wearing, the graffiti shot in the background. We no longer have candles around the house or my former favorite glasses with the fruit and the french writing - those have all broken.
Way back on February 10th, 2003, we hosted an Absenthe Night at our first apartment in Brooklyn. These are among the very first digital photos I have stored in my collection but I honestly have no idea whether they were taken by me on my camera or by someone else on someone else's camera (Larry would be the most likely person). I figured as long as I am filling in the "Go Back in Time" back-story I may as well go WAY back to the beginning of digital photography.
What I love about these photos is 1) there are very, very, few photos of J and my first apartment together. We kind of hated that place (well, I did) and the decorating (if you can call it that) was abhorent, 2) we all look SO young, and 3) the photos really reflect how incredibly drunk we all were.
Also, on the going back in time photos, I decided NOT to photoshop them so that they truly stand the way they were at the time. Also, it shows just how far I've come!
