M and J at home

In my file folders of images, these are labeled simply "M and J at home". This is also a pretty good representation of our Brooklyn apartment. When we tell people now that we lived in 450 square feet for 4 years, it's hard for them to picture. This one room is our living room, dining room, office for both of us, kitchen, and has one of our two closets as well. I can't believe how much clutter we had! Just looking at this photo makes me feel like cleaning!

"Larry" loves to ham it up for the camera - these are pretty subdued. We thought he looked like a young Richard Petty...see below.

In these pics, Gords reminds me of some actor from the 50s or 60s but I can't put my finger on just who it is. Who is it?!?? Anyone know?!

Grillin' on the Front Stoop

In Brooklyn, during the summers, we spent a lot of time grilling with our friends. The two main locations for this were in our backyard and on Gords' front stoop. There was a big difference in feel and style between backyard and front stoop grillin'. The front stoop is so "Brooklyn". People walk by, dogs walk by, you people watch, sometimes you talk to people, and you see crazy things. People are amused at a bunch of kids sitting out on the sidewalk grilling and drinking some beers. It's a lot of fun. I think this may be the only time I ever photographed one of our front-stoop-grillages and I love these photographs for their iconic depiction of our life in Brooklyn circa 2004.

Happy Birthday

Happy 4 years ago birthday, honey! This was, let me think, 27? I have fond memories of the striped shirt J is wearing here. For a long time, it was his favorite and well-worn dress shirt.
